Pet Interior Design
Pets are so incredibly important in our lives. Our pets are present for our laughs and cries, our best days and worst days. They are our source of comfort, provide love and friendship, and life without them simply seems empty. We have been fortunate to help design for many different types of pets, small and large. Being pet owners ourselves, in addition to having experience with pet owners as clients has led specific design attuned to pets an essential part of our process. We’d like to share some of our favorite pet projects!
Is your pet free to roam anywhere in the home?
Those cute little paws and claws are rough on your bedding and upholstery. We like to design spaces with fabrics that can handle the roughest and toughest run and jumps onto the bed!
Are you in between pets? Maybe you’re waiting until your children are a little older to share the responsibility?
Incorporating animals in your home décor still provide those feelings of comfort and joy. This dog pillow was a great addition to a boys’ room we decorated.
Is your animal lucky enough for their own space?
This kitty city we designed leads the homeowner’s cats through a series of shelves, tunnels and scratch posts. The cat room included an oasis (away from the dogs) with its own cat door, space for food and water, their litter box, along with bulk storage.
Have great artwork of your pet? Have you experienced loss and want to have a memorial piece in your house to remember them?
We were able to commission and hang a portrait of these beautiful dogs and use colors from the canvas in the accessories in the dining room.
Are you worried that your floors wont stand up to nails and accidents?
We also consider this when recommending different flooring and carpet options. We want to create not only beautiful but long lastly for each of our client’s lifestyles.
Do you have an imaginary pet?
Yes, we’ve designed a space for one of those. Above is the palacial entry of Philoneus Crumbsnatcher, an imaginary mouse who lives in the baseboards of one of our client’s homes.
Maybe your pets need an entire structure?
We have been fortunate enough to design an entire horse stables on a client’s personal estate. The clients requested stables and bathing areas for their personal horses, a sitting/tack room, 2 bathrooms and laundry for horse blankets, a lofted fully furnished mezzanine suite and kitchenette that opened up to the arena below and a separate barn for their stallion.
Pets are part of our family, why wouldn’t we keep them in mind when designing our home. Earth and Images has had the opportunity to work with some amazing clients over the years and in turn means we have gotten to work on some awesome pet projects as well.
